Conny K. JonssonArtist's WebsiteConny K. Jonsson, Untitled, 1999. © 2004 Conny K. Jonsson "We've several things in common. We're both 'night workers', cat-fanatics and suffering from a severe migraine ..." (Interview, August 18, 2002) "Who I am? well... eh, what to say?... hate: Hardware problems, lying politicians, stupidity, migraine and a few more things - but I don't wanna tell ya about it." (From the artist's website, July 11, 2003) "A picture that I made some years ago will show my visuals quite accurate, I think. It always starts as a small spot in the focus and 'grows' until it disappears in the periphery. The whiteness (to the right) is ... nothing ... just blindness." (Email to Klaus Podoll, October 9, 2002) Conny K. Jonsson, Imperfection, 2000. © 2004 Conny K. Jonsson "I've deliberately depicted my visual symptoms in my art, but never published these pieces. I've never seen it as a 'source' for my inspiration, it's more like an 'unwanted' source of inspiration... My aversion to look at it as a source has not been completely deliberated, but more as an 'instinctive' point of view. Your interest and your questions did open my eyes to consider it with new eyes though! I think I've to work on this issue to make it a bit more clear to me... Yes, I'll take a look and dig into my picture library..." (Email to Klaus Podoll, October 9, 2002) "A new picture added - Imperfection - This one is actually two years old but never published, but for some odd reasons... however, I got an email from Dr Klaus Podoll MD, in Aachen, Germany, a neurologist who's working on a research in the subject of Migraine Art. Thanks to Dr Podoll I'll now publish one of my secret migraine inspired images..." (Lost webpage, November 15, 2002, but see here) "I was working on this image when I got my migraine related visuals. As always, I get partly blind on the left or right side (mostly right). This limited sight makes it feel like the face (my face) is 'imperfect'. And I mirrored this imperfection to her face. The drawed buildings are also a kind of reflection to the limited sight though. The tree in the background is a symbol for the bloodvessels - just for your knowledge... Thank you for opening my eyes for my 'secrets'! I still don't understand why I kept these images in private though!" (Email to Klaus Podoll, November 22, 2002) ![]() Conny K. Jonsson, dis-harmonic, 2003. © 2004 Conny K. Jonsson "A new picture added to the Gallery disharmonic. This one is based on a bad dream I had a few days ago ..." (From the artist's website, January 16, 2003) "Based on a bad dream I use to have - from time to time ..." (Digitalart, May 21, 2004) "When this dream appears I'll always wake up with migraine! I do not have that dream before every migraine attack though." (Email to Klaus Podoll, May 24, 2004) "The bad dream: I'm standing in front of the bathroom mirror and watching slippery snakes and worms popping out of my head, ears, nose, mouth and eyes. I try to grab them and get rid of them, unsuccessfully of course. After a while I get aware of that I'm dreaming though! And directly I start fight my self out of sleep and the headache is already there. An unpleasant - and very weird - dream, believe me... The headache lasts for hours. No visuals or vomiting, just nausea. I've had it for about 30 years - got my first migraine attack at my early twenties - but this dream appears not so often really... hmm, maybe 4-5 times per year ... This dream does not appear when I'm awake, just in sleep-mode." (Email to Klaus Podoll, May 25, 2004)
