MLML, Untitled, undated. © 2005 Anjan Chatterjee "ML had migraine headaches since she was a teenager. Her headaches were accompanied by visual scintillations and nausea before throbbing headaches. As she got older, the headaches were reasonably well controlled with the use of beta blockers and the occasional use of triptan medications. She was a musician and played the piano for her church choir. In her early 50s she took up oil painting. The painting shown here is her first completed painting. It appears that she made use of phosphene and fortification like forms in the background texture. I do not know whether or not she was aware of the use of this 'visual vocabulary' as emanating from her migraine experiences."
