"Migraine headaches have served as a tool for me to explore the barriers to personal expression and creativity. Journaling and simple drawings during and after headaches helped me explore the 'constriction' of migraines and how that felt in the physical body, but also how that constriction prevented the free flow of creativity in my life. All of this 'exploring' into the cause and manifestation of migraines in my life lead to my ability to pursue my vocation and avocation as a professional artist. Early in my work I created paintings that depicted the actual migraine experience for me. The painting Migraine was one of these pieces."

(Email to Klaus Podoll, February 27, 2003)

"Migraine, the painting, reflects the images that come when experiencing a migraine headache. The center area of vision blocked, while strong shapes and movement occur in the peripheral vision. This painting also represents the opening that occurs after the initial constriction of blood vessels, the flow of light and information, and the return to clarity. The shape, an elongated canvas, reflects the concept of 'fragment' - a moment, or experience short in duration, gathered together make up the whole of our experiences."

(Email to Klaus Podoll, March 25, 2003)

"I am as much a healer as an artist. I bring together the elements of color, texture, and energy in a form that connects with people. They connect because there is something in there for them - something they desire, something they need, or something that speaks to them. I get a great deal of guidance about each piece and what will be valuable. It basically flows onto the paper or canvas. I have an array of helpers that work with me - bringing in the light and energy specific to each painting. Call them guides, spirits, old souls; they are the force behind my creativity. They bring the gift of information, truth, history, and destiny. They open doors and windows to all that we need to live our lives - to move our spirits where they desire to go."
